Guitarist and Composer
BIO
Born in Geneva to Mauritian parents, Ravi grew up with a dual culture, giving him a rich cultural background and musical sensitivity. He first studied classical piano at the Conservatoire in Geneva (CPMDT) at the age of 8. At the age of 13, he began self-taught guitar with pop punk, then turned to jazz. He soon immersed himself in jazz and improvised music through the AMR in Geneva, where he trained by playing at jam sessions. He had the opportunity to make musical encounters outside Switzerland during a year in England and a few months in Colombia. Through a fascination for odd meters, Ravi draws in his music complex rhythmic patterns submerged in dream-like harmonies and memorable melodies. He obtained a Master’s degree in Jazz Pedagogy at the HEMU (Lausanne) in 2024, where he studied with Vinz Vonlanthen, Sylvain Luc, Nelson Veras and Emil Spanyi.
For the past six years, the guitarist has been leading and composing for his progressive jazz/rock quartet Ravi Ramsahye PROTOTYPE. Their new album, Sunglint, will be released on February 13th, 2026 on the German label Neuklang.

Ravi Ramsahye PROTOTYPE
Ravi Ramsahye PROTOTYPE is a Geneva-based project blending the adolescent spark of pop-punk, the introspection of progressive jazz, and the asymmetric pulse of math rock. Born in the guitarist’s teenage bedroom and shaped by the worlds of anime, video games, and midwest emo, the band transforms these influences into a cinematic, emotionally honest sound. Their new album Sunglint (2026) explores presence, acceptance, and the quiet clarity that emerges when we let go. It was named after the glimmer of sunlight on water, a symbol of reconnecting to what truly matters.
Written in Mauritius after years away from his roots, the album marks a return to origins, carrying forward a culture of community and translating it into a desire to make jazz accessible beyond its usual boundaries. PROTOTYPE’s members, each with their own unconventional path, shape this vision through raw energy, melodic vulnerability, and rhythmic experimentation.
After emerging from Switzerland’s creative scene (AMR, Cully Jazz Festival, Suisse Diagonales Jazz 2024), the band’s debut LP Crépuscules established their fearless aesthetic. Sunglint goes deeper still : An album that unfolds like an odyssey, glimmering between chaos and serenity, constantly returning to the present moment.
